Keith's Autobiography: I got my start knife carving Uncle Sams and Santas then selling them at craft shows during the holidays. I was always fascinated with chainsaw carving. Several years ago when I built a log home, I goy an opportunity to try chainsaw carving. While taking out several trees for my driveway, I began to practice carving a bear. Soon after, I sold my first chainsaw carved bear. Because of my previous carving experience, it came naturally to me. I was immediately hooked and have been chainsaw carving ever since. I use the chainsaw as a tool to remove the wood and shape out the carving. Details are also made with the saw, such as the fur or feathers. Then the last process of carving is detailing with chisels, sanders and a burner. The painting process is applied thin so the wood grain will come through to enhance the piece. Two to three coats of sealer are applied to every carving. I feel that each piece that I carve is one of a kind and unique.

 I enjoy creating with the chainsaw. It's always a learning experience to see what I can create with a log. It's fun experimenting with all the different types of woods available. I have to say, my favorite part of carving is creating in front of an audience who have never watched such a thing before. I don't feel as if I'm extremely talented, but extremely determined. I love what I do. It is my sincere hope that my carvings bring the purchaser as much joy as it did for me to create it.
